A Week of Field Trips

I think May is the unofficial "Field Trip Month".  My girls both went on their first field trip of the year (It was Dailee's first field trip EVER and she's in second grade!).  So naturally, they both wanted their mom to accompany them.  And if that wasn't enough, I decided to throw in a Joy School field trip too!  So here it goes...

Aubrey's was first.  We went to the Wildlife World Zoo, it's a west valley favorite.  Just me , a few animals and 100 Kindergartners.  Actually, there were so many parents that signed up to help that I was only responsible for Aubrey and one other little girl, Cara.  I couldn't help but wonder if the great parent turn out is a sign of involved parents or tough economic times.

Aubrey feeding the giraffe.  It's a Zoo favorite.

Some tired kids at the end of a long day.

So I asked Aubrey how she liked her field trip and she replied..."I hated it.  I didn't even get to ride any rides."  Yes, the Zoo has rides and for a small fee of between $3 and $6 Aubrey, Cara and the other six children we were walking with could have ridden the rides.  But since me and the other parents I was with didn't feel like forking out the money we conformed that, just to make it fair, no one would ride the rides.  Boy, did that ruin Aubrey's day.

Quinn's field trip was next.  We went to the Children's Museum of Phoenix.  We had a ball!  We were there for four hours and could have stayed longer.  I would highly recommend this museum but keep a close eye on your kids.  If you blink you'll loose them.

Quinn in the "grocery store"

There is a race car area that Quinn absolutely loved.  I couldn't get him to leave.

I was trying to take a picture of Quinn crawling toward me but he wouldn't cooperate.  This was the best I could do.

And last but not least, Dailee and I went to the Science Center.  I've decided I like the Science Center a lot better with older kids.  I've been there a lot but it has always been with preschoolers.  Now I know to take the preschoolers to the Children's Museum.  It's a much better fit for them.

And silly-er....
