I don't get it...

I've had a few people talk to me about opening a facebook account.  But I just don't get it. Can someone please help me understand Facebook?  So you go on the computer and communicate with your friends and get in touch with friends from the past.  I guess my question comes because a few months ago my former sister-in-law emailed me and told me a friend of mine was trying to get a hold of me.  It was a male friend of mine from EAC.  He looked up Becca Terry in Peoria and came up with her thinking it might be me.  This guy was a great friend of mine, we never dated, just friends.  His facebook picture was him with his wife and little baby.  I went on his facebook and could see that he had other people from EAC on there.  But seriously, am I really interested in getting in touch with all of these people?  A year and a half ago we had an EAC reunion.  I was on the committee and we sent out about 500 invitations (actually I have no idea how many we sent out but it was a lot) and only about 40 people and their spouses came.  So if everyone is so interested in keeping in touch why didn't they come to the reunion?  Maybe it was a bad weekend or too far to travel or too expensive. Dave has never mentioned anything about facebook but I can't imagine myself saying "Oh sure sweetie, go ahead and accept all of the girls from your past as friends, I'd like to know what they are up to too."  And no this isn't a trust or loyalty issue I just don't see how that is a good idea.  On the other hand, I'd love to get in touch with some of my old roommates that I'm sure are on facebook.  So, I guess I could accept the girls as friends and tell the boys to bug off and go hug their wife.  But then that would come across rude because I know their intentions would be totally innocent and they would think holy cow who does she think she is?  Ok, so this might all stem from some counsel I heard a long time ago and I don't remember who said it but it was someone of significance.  They just counseled that we not keep in touch with past boy/girlfriends after marriage.  But then again people change.  But then again it is good counsel.  Anyway I have rambled off way too long about a subject that may have offended some people since everyone has a facebook account (of which I have no idea who you are because I don't have one).  And maybe I'm just jealous of facebook because I feel so out of it since I don't have an account.  Hopefully I don't sound too negative.  I really am a "glass is half full type person".  But I just don't get it.

Scary scary day

I had one of those moments as a mother.  The one when you think in the back of your mind that your child just might not make it.  That this could be the last moment you see them alive or that you have seen them as a healthy active child for the last time.  Thankfully, this is the first time in eight years that I have had one of those moments.  Last Saturday our family went with Grandma Jackson to look at a vacant home.  We took our time touring the home and then started talking in the family room.  Grandma and Quinn were sitting on the fireplace and Dailee jumped up on the fireplace and grabbed hold of the mantel.  The mantel wasn't secure and it fell down right on Quinn's head and rolled down his back.  The next several minutes were sheer panic.  Grandma called 911 while Dave and I hovered over Quinn to try and asses the injury.  I walked over to see how heavy the mantel was and I could barely lift it.  Dave thinks it weighed about 60 lbs.  Quinn never lost consciousness and could move is arms and legs.  We kept him still (well Dave kept him still while I was silently in a panic and trying to comfort the girls).  When the paramedics got there Quinn was showing no signs of a concussion and seemed to be fine.  But knowing how heavy the mantel was they transported him by ambulance to the hospital for a cat-scan.  Quinn left the hospital 3 hours later with just a bump on the head. Wow, what a blessing.  It's in those terrifying moments when you realize how precious life is. It's when you wish you would have taken time to play with your son instead of doing the dishes, folding laundry or any other insignificant chore.  It's when you ask yourself if you hugged your son that day and let him know how much you love him.  How blessed we are to have our little ones.

Back in the Saddle Again

I finally downloaded these pictures of my fist 10k post baby Ella.  I ran it on Nov. 22 here in Surprise.  Dave's job was to get the kids to the finish line and take some pictures of my victorious and triumphant finish.  He got the kids there but I don't see me in any of the pictures.  He got some good pictures of others who ran the race.  935 looks like she is having fun.  I'm sure I came in so fast that he just couldn't get the camera ready on time.  Yeah, that's it.

Ella Bella

Here are some pics of Ella.  She is growing so fast.  She is 5 months already.  She is still very mild mannered and just goes with the flow.  We can't get her to smile long enough to take a picture though.

Jackson Family comment of the year!

A few weeks ago Dave got tickets to the Phoenix Suns game, so off he and Quinn went for a little Father-Son bonding time.  Dave spent the game educating Quinn on the game of basketball and getting him familiar with all of the players, especially Steve Nash.  Quinn even came home with a brand new Steve Nash jersey.  After the game was over and they got into the car Dave asked Quinn what his favorite part of the game was.  Without hesitation Quinn replied "The girls dancing."  Oh my, how observant our little ones are.

Quinn's hospital visit

Here is Dad and Quinn in the hospital.  Quinn had a little asthma episode last month.  I took him to the doctor on Wednesday, Nov. 12 because he was laboring heavily to breath.  The doc sent us straight to the hospital for breathing and steroid treatments.  Quinn's bronchial tubes were so tight he was not passing enough air through them to wheeze.  Luckily he responded well to the treatments and we were able to go home the next day.  Dad was able to spend the night with Quinn then Pa (grandpa Jackson) relieved dad early thursday morning until I could get there.  Quinn sure did enjoy the attention at the hospital.  Thursday when he felt better he had lots of fun in the play room and loved it when Pa, then mom, pushed him around and around and around the halls in a cool car.  So Quinn is officially an asthmatic.  Like father like son.  Dad can relate to Quinn's breathing issues and handles them a lot better then me.

Hike up Thunderbird Mtn

We took our family on a picnic and hike to Thunderbird Mountain last weekend.  Daddy and Ella stayed back and mom took Dailee, Aubrey, and Quinn up the mountain.  We took some cute pictures.
